It's not often that our travels along the Bass Fishing Tournament Trail take us to a town as special as La Crosse, Wisconsin. A region that combines incredible fishing for the guys and scenic views, hiking, as well as an incredible restaurant scene and entertainment. When we saw La Crosse on our tournament schedule this year, we were so excited to get to experience all it has to offer. Join us on a full day of exploring La Crosse.
SHOW ME THE VIEWS
After we sent the guys off on the water just after sunrise, we leashed up the dogs and headed out. We made the drive through downtown and then up to Grandad Bluff. A winding drive up the bluff delivered incredible rewards. This location is such a beautiful look out spot to see the Mississippi River and the city of La Crosse. There are also incredible trails all along the area.
After returning down the bluff and back on Main Street, we headed downtown for some breakfast. We enjoyed the outdoor patio (dog friendly) of Grounded Patio Cafe. It was a beautiful August morning and we enjoyed smoothies and a little brunch.
We decided to checkout some of the great downtown shops and finished the morning at Duluth Trading Company and decided to get some drawers for the guys that everyone raves about. I guess we will let them give the ultimate verdict on those.
It was so refreshing to see a downtown district thriving with many shops to pop in and out of.
Then it was time to join some of the other wives who are here at this event at the
It was super neat to get to learn about all that goes into making award-winning craft beer. The tour started with a tasting and then we learned all about the mechanics and science behind it all. They have a gift shop with PSB gear and also a tasting room. It was a great opportunity for some of us to get together while the guys are on the water for the day. Check their website for Brew Tours and hours.
MORE EATS
While downtown, we dropped by La Crosse Distilling Co for some lunch and it was really good. We had the Catfish Tacos and the Birria Beef Tacos. They have outdoor dining as well so it was a great opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather.
And since we were already downtown and any excuse is a great excuse for ice cream, we decided to celebrate our birthdays early together and headed to The Pearl Ice Cream Parlor. When we walked in the door and smelled homemade waffle cones being prepared, we knew we had made the right decision. It has such a neat nostalgic feel, and looks like an authentic 1930's style ice cream parlor and confectionery, While the ice cream is divine, they also have homemade fudge, specialty chocolates, and candies.
They use real Wisconsin dairy and make the ice cream in small batches. The building was built in 1874 so if you want to experience some history and satisfy your sweet tooth, you're headed to the right place.
After a quick stop at Festival Foods for supplies, we checked back at the RV and prepped dinner for the guys. Official practice days mean early mornings and really late evenings for them. So then we headed out to do something we both have never done before...
YOGA... but with a GOAT!
We took a quick drive out to Rainbow Ridge Farms and it was the best way to top of our day of exploring. There were 20 other courageous people ready to get a workout in with a 4-legged friend. Upon arrival, we learned about the proper ways to carry and care for the goats. Then we headed to the barn to transport them to the yoga area. It was the cutest thing ever to see them hopping around and interacting. Once the yoga class began, they sprang into action. If you want a workout that includes a lot of giggles, this is a must. The instructor was wonderful and a memory we won't soon forget. Be sure to checkout our videos of this experience on our IG and Tiktok channels. @ReelRVWives
